Safety Rocks leads pioneering UK Motorsport Safety Day

Attendees in conversation at the UK Motorsport Safety Day, held at Motorsport UK’s Bicester Heritage headquarters

Safety Rocks has taken a major step in advancing risk management across the motorsport industry after hosting the UK Motorsport Safety Day (17 June) at Motorsport UK’s headquarters at Bicester Heritage.

The event brought together representatives from all corners of the sport – championships spanning rally, circuit racing, trucks and karts, plus team managers, ASN representatives, safety professionals, sponsors and trade associations.

This breadth of attendance underlined a clear shift: risk management in motorsport is now an industrywide conversation, not a niche topic.

Throughout the day, the focus was firmly on risk management and protection, rather than traditional ‘health and safety’ framing.

The aim was to grow the conversation around how motorsport can futureproof itself by strengthening standards not only on track, but also in the paddock, garages and fan areas where opportunities for improvement still exist.

A key milestone was the launch of the NEBOSH Verified Essential Risk Management in Motorsport course, delivered on site as part of the programme. As Motorsport UK’s Official Health and Safety Training Partner, Safety Rocks is uniquely positioned to convene this community and drive momentum behind a more modern, proactive approach to risk.

Safety Rocks Founder Carla Crocombe:

“Risk management touches every corner of motorsport – from race paddocks and rally service areas to spectator zones, marshals’ posts and media spaces. It’s often discussed quietly behind the scenes, but bringing it into the open helps everyone: venues, organisers, clubs, teams, volunteers, broadcasters and fans. When we raise awareness across all these environments, we raise the standard for the entire sport.

“I’m incredibly proud to launch the NEBOSH course. It represents months of hard work and a genuine commitment to understanding the realities of motorsport – not just the theory. We’ve built something that speaks the language of the sport and gives people practical tools they can use immediately. That’s what makes this so exciting.”

The day marked the beginning of something bigger. Safety Rocks will continue to grow this network, host further events and create more opportunities for organisations to become involved in shaping the future of motorsport safety.
